Working from a nonjudgmental, warm and client/family centred approach I support children, youth and families experiencing a variety of challenges. Establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is important in my work so we can explore strategies that will empower children and youth to discover their strengths, and develop life long skills to gain a sense of belonging and resilience in socially useful ways.

I want to help them gain the skills and tools they need to handle a wide array of challenges. This often includes work in the areas of growth mindset, self-regulation and communication. I am also comfortable supporting others with their social and emotional needs including healthy relationships, self esteem and anxiety. At the core of my practice is a heartfelt commitment to creating a safe space that is nurturing, free from judgment and full of unwavering support for my clients.

I support adolescents and their families from a person-centred perspective, which means that building positive and trusting relationships is key to my practice. I strive to create a non-judgmental, trauma-informed and inclusive space where adolescents can learn about themselves, explore their inner strengths, and build confidence to overcome life’s challenges.

As a former teacher and current school counsellor, Kate has a variety of experiences to draw upon to help support children and families. She works with children experiencing personal, social and behavioural problems, including bullying, body image and self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and anger management. Kate offers a play-based approach and draws from various modalities such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy and self-compassion. She believes in a collaborative approach with caregivers to provide holistic strategies and compassionate care to her clients.

Penelope holds a Masters of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary. In her career as a Certified School Psychologist, she has worked in multiple school districts which has provided her with extensive experience working with children and adolescents from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Currently, Penelope is also working towards her Registered Clinical Counselling (RCC) qualification. She hopes to create a safe and inviting space where individuals can learn about themselves and thrive in their lives.

Jillian was drawn to pursue counselling because of her experience volunteering at the Crisis Centre in downtown Calgary while completely her Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary. Currently, Jillian joins this practice as an intern, providing counselling services to young adults with a focus on relationships, including family systems, romantic partners, and friendships.

Jason de Couto is currently pursuing his Masters of Counselling from City University. He is a professional musician and has also been a public school teacher for 17 years. He enthusiastically brings his diverse life experiences and academic background to his practice and is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental space for his clients of all ages and backgrounds. He is grateful for the opportunity to work with the team at DB Counselling and looks forward to helping his clients work towards balance, happiness, and inner peace.

Neda believes that all individuals have the capacity for meaningful change and healing in their lives. She strives to put into practice person-centered therapy and honours the stories and experiences of clients. As a former teacher, Neda is passionate about working with children, youth and their families to support them with personal, social, and behavioural challenges including anxiety, anger management and emotional regulation, low self-esteem, and social isolation. She supports clients through empathetic and non-judgmental listening, and nurturing a safe therapeutic relationship.

Naimeh, with 18 years of experience in teaching, is passionate about sharing her knowledge with parents, children, and adolescents. She believes that each individual can access their inner wisdom and enhance their mental wealth when faced with life's challenges. Naimeh offers a calm and nurturing space for her clients where they are invited to identify their concerns and receive support through their growth journey. Through her compassionate understanding, she cultivates an environment of trust and empathy.

Sandy has dedicated 15 years to supporting children and families in B.C.'s school system. As both a teacher and counselor, she's helped at-risk youth navigate issues like bullying, anxiety, and self-esteem. Sandy's focus on social-emotional learning is unwavering. She believes in the power of the mind-body connection and is passionate about guiding others towards healing. Using mindfulness and somatic practices, she helps people become more grounded in their bodies. Sandy believes everyone is capable of healing and is honored to support others on their journey to well-being.
